Reflections on LIG 1 Structures and Organisation Facilitator Training 1999

'These sessions gave me an opportunity to clarify my under-standing.'

'The opportunities to debrief helped me identify factors for a successful LIG event.'

Fifty three cross-sectoral facilitators attended a highly successful two-day training workshop held on 31 May and 1 June 1999.

The workshop's purpose was to train school-based experts to lead the forty six LIG events on School Structures and Organisation to follow in June.

The workshop program included Board of Studies and VET sessions as well as sessions based on the materials, resources and training processes for the LIG events.

Although they had some criticisms to make, participants were generally extremely positive about the workshop sessions, the support materials and resources provided and the opportunities for debriefing.

Participants felt that the two days allowed them to share and network with other facilitators, to anticipate and discuss issues, and importantly to model the facilitator role. Becoming confident in the role of facilitator was a key issue for some and the participant feedback suggested that the workshop debriefing sessions particularly helped address this issue.

' Working with colleagues was an extremely powerful exercise. [It] provided opportunities for collaborative thinking.'

'Well presented materials - flexibility of these materials is important.'
