Course outcomes
Outcomes
After completing Literacy online - Stage 2 participants will have:
- deepened their knowledge and understanding of the Board of Studies English K-6 Syllabus and support documents, and Department of Education and Training State Literacy and Numeracy Plan materials
- expanded their pedagogical repertoire to improve literacy teaching and learning in the classroom
- strengthened their professional learning networks through online collegial discussion
- become reflective practitioners who seek to improve the literacy learning experiences for students.
Expectations
At the conclusion of the course participants will have:
- completed four of the five course modules
- participated in an orientation teleconference during Module 1
- attended a one-day professional learning course designed for participants in the program
- worked with groups of students in the classroom to improve literacy outcomes
- actively participated in online collegial discussion about literacy issues, and professional learning issues, arising from the course content and classroom activity
- read and reflected on professional learning materials related to the literacy learning theory underpinning the course
- submitted a professional learning portfolio of work related to the course content for evaluation.
