Evaluating units of work

Evaluating what and how we teach is a vital part of the whole
teaching and learning cycle.
Several layers of evaluation are important for future planning:
Evaluating what was completed: This will highlight
outcomes or big ideas that still need to be
addressed in future units.
Evaluating what worked well, or not: Making
these judgements about the quality of experience will assist in
revising
the unit for future use. Especially note those activities that
stimulated students’ interest.
Evaluating what was achieved by students: This
is related to the assessment of students’ achievement of outcomes
but also provides insights into individual interests, and strengths
and gaps in students’ capabilities, suggesting possible directions
for future units.
