There are several key issues and items that should be considered
when you are implementing a S&T vision. These are articulated
as you develop the S&T school plan. They include:
- curriculum planning and monitoring
- reporting student achievement
- the unique role of the S&T KLA in students’ development
of Information and Communication Technology capabilities
- activities involving parents and the community
- ways in which records could be shared and stored
- role of the library as a learning resource centre
- ways in which equipment and materials are maintained and stored
- budget allocation
- professional development.
Think about the vision statement that has been reviewed and accepted
by your school community.
Identify any differences between the ways that S&T is currently
represented in the curriculum of the school, and the changes that
may be required to achieve the vision. The aim should be:
confirm S&T as having priority in the school experience of
all students
provide structures and guidance that assist all teachers to provide
a coherent S&T program for their class.
It may be useful to identify the specific requirements or areas
of greatest need.
