[Stages 4 and 5]

You will need to have read 'What is SciTech?' before starting this section.

Effective Stage 3 learning experiences:

  • focus on syllabus outcomes
  • are based on designing and making, and investigating processes
  • provide diversity and balance that reflects the scope of the syllabus
  • build upon the experiences provided in earlier stages.

Stage 3

In Stage 3 the science and technology syllabus places a clear emphasis on students becoming more independent in managing activities of science and technology.

Stage 3 prepares students for the transition to secondary schooling. It is important for teachers to recognise that in Stage 4, students will undertake the mandatory study of Design and Technology as well as the mandatory study of Science.

By working through the material and activities within this stage classroom, you will have the opportunity to:

  • gain an understanding of a progression of learning
  • be assisted with stage planning
  • be assisted to develop class programs that reflect appropriate diversity and balance
  • prepare SciTech units of work utilising a SciTech program planner.
