Starting to plan: steps in the sequence

Individuals or a school team can work through each step in turn, or choose specific items as needed for your school's planning process.The planning process is cyclic so you may need to revisit many of the process steps from time to time.

Developing an understanding of Science and Technology: Principles of effective Science and Technology education, goals for K–6 and informing the community.

Evaluation: Identifying the school's current level of Science and Technology implementation.

Planning approach: Determining the purpose and overall intention of the planning process.

Planning process:

Step 1:  Gathering information and making decisions (current teaching and learning situation; identifying equipment and physical resources and professional development needs).
Step 2:  Establishing a school direction and approach (developing a vision including curriculum environments, school structures and change management).
Step 4:  Creating the school plan (identifying essential sections, consolidating previous tasks, identifying required professional development, resources and budget,  implementation strategies and timelines).
Step 5:  Ongoing planning (design and revision of individual Stage plans, class programs and units of work [annual and ongoing]).
Step 6:  Cycles of development (review).
