These understandings will improve the quality of students' evaluative thinking about their own designs in Information and Communications.

The Technology (Mandatory) Years 7-8 Syllabus describes literacy in design as follows:

Students learn to include subject-specific vocabulary, to describe, to classify, and interpret meaning in order to develop and present design solutions using a range of media, including word processing. They evaluate information and construct text for specific audiences at vaious stages of design development.
